 Blackfish Star John Hargrove Speaking at Chicago Public School

Former SeaWorld Trainer and Blackfish Movie star John Hargrove will be speaking via Skype at Lenart Regional Gifted Center a Chicago Public Elementary School on Tuesday May 6th 2014. Lenart Elementary National Junior Honor Society students are showed the movie Blackfish to the 6th, 7th and 8th grade on April 30, 2014 to honor April Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.

Chicago, IL May 6, 2014 via PR Web – A student led initiative at Lenart Regional Gifted Center will explore the controversial subject of marine mammals in captivity. The movie Blackfish will be shown to approximately 90 students. The students will also research Seaworld’s response to the movie Blackfish and participate in a debate on marine mammals in captivity.

An emphasis will be placed on responsible environmental stewardship and moral ethical responsibility towards oneself, others and differing viewpoints. Blackfish and movies like The Cove provide excellent common core learning opportunities due to the complex nature of this current event dilemma which can lead to dynamic classroom discussions and assignments about politics, history, culture, tradition, philosophy, economics, sustainability, environmental concerns, biodiversity, marine life and ocean studies.

SeaWorld Pledge arranged for Mr. John Hargrove to speak at Lenart Regional Gifted Center. SeaWorld Pledge is applying for not for profit status and is dedicated to bringing documentary films to schools across the nation and supporting the efforts of educators via funding or providing speakers for programs.
